Begin with a better conversation
Leaders create movement when people can think clearly, speak honestly and act with purpose.
When a working relationship feels difficult, a broad label rarely helps: unmotivated, resistant, poor communicator. Try starting with the situation you can describe instead. What happened, and what was its effect on the work?
Prepare a question before preparing your conclusion. What context might you be missing? What would you need to understand before agreeing a useful next step? Leave space for an answer you have not anticipated.
End with clarity about what happens next. A conversation becomes easier to act on when both people can describe the next action, who owns it and when they will return to it.
